I don’t know about you, but this winter felt way too long this year. I found myself trying to stay more active than normal to make up for the lack of sun. Often I would be indoors standing in front of a window attempting to soak in any available rays. We all know how the lack of sun exposure can cause your serotonin levels to dip. It was pretty obvious that I needed the sun and the natural mood boost that comes with it. So early this April, when it was warm enough to go outside for a walk, I jumped at the chance.
The feeling of warmth and being outside was almost like I took a shot of some happy juice. It was as if I could feel my entire body exhale, start to come out of hibernation, and begin to thaw out. It started in my eyes and traveled South from there. I missed the sun and the feelings it gives me.
If it has been a while since you went outside with the sole intention of soaking up some sun for 10-15 minutes, go do it. Visualize your Vitamin D and serotonin levels rise. Take a deep breath, smile, and enjoy the benefits of that big fireball in the sky.
