Reconnecting with a Friend

I recently reconnected with a good friend of mine.  You know, the friend that you have had for 15-20 years.  The one that you can talk to once every year or two and everything is cool.  Well, we fully reconnected this time.  It was like we were 16 again.  Hanging at my house.  Driving around and blasting music with our windows down. Talking about the old times and more importantly, the future.  Talking about how we are finally figuring out how to REALLY live life to the fullest.

We traded stories about the ups and downs, and about what those experiences taught us.  It was beyond therapeutic.   It was a true reconnection.  As I move through life, I realize how important these types of relationships are.  Sometimes you get caught up in the current of everyday life and you forget to cherish the moments.  The people.  The friendships. This really made me step back and remember how important relationships like these are.

If you have been meaning to call an old friend from school or a previous job, DO IT!   Don’t “like” a post or message them on Facebook.  Call them.  Meet them for lunch.  Have them over.

Trust me.  It feels great.

I needed this. I do the ‘yeah I should call him soon’…but I keep not calling him. Good friends are hard to find. Ok now I just need to do it
